The Bible describes his hero is never anything less than a very human light. The story of David is no exception. We see the triumph of David, but his weaknesses, fears and failures have not reduced the pages of Scripture.
In the book of Alan Redpath, The Making of a Man of God, David's life is examined, and the truth are applied to our daily walk. I would recommend this book required reading for high school students home. I think that will serve as a great encouragement tocontinue on their spiritual journey.
As your student is considering to change the lives of decisions on their future, that will be remembered by David, who has seen the Lord for guidance. Thanks to his experience in battle and pursuit of Saul, why Redpath demonstrates our heart must be clean for God's guidance received.
The effects of secularism are also addressed. Redpath Saul used to illustrate that affects the world is dangerous. Saul David's attempt to dresswith its own weapons in his fight against Goliath, is his attempt, as David Goliath to make as much as possible. Goliath was a type of Satan, or the world. The Christian truly willing to be used by God, the world must be rejected and only God, the methods of battle victorious.
Another problem is relevant to young men and women entering adulthood, the ability to wait for God's guidance, rather than acting out of passion or emotion. Redpath uses the account of Naboth's vineyardTo illustrate this, and the fact that God's promises are always sure to point out even amid periods of waiting for leadership.
The Making of a man of God was an encouragement and reminder to me that the man (or woman) of God through Jesus Christ is fully equipped and the power of the word, he would try to take the fight against the world and our culture, control and claim the lives of our children. "The man, who is on his face before God is always against theEnemy. "
